FAQ’s

  • After you've placed an order for our mixing and mastering service, here’s the step-by-step process you can expect:

    1. File Preparation: You will need to create a zip file containing your stem files. Instructions on how to do this will be included in our follow-up email.

    2. File Upload: Upload your zip file to the link we provide in the email. This is a secure and efficient way to ensure we receive all necessary files for your project.

    3. Providing References: In the same email, you can inform us about any reference tracks or specific sounds you're aiming to achieve with your project. This helps us tailor the final output to your vision.

    4. Project Start: Once we have received all files and necessary information, we will start the mixing and mastering process.

    5. Turnaround Time: We strive to deliver both mixing and mastering services within 3-5 working days from your purchase date. If you require an immediate turnaround, please contact us directly at info@rivalmusic.co.uk.

    6. Review and Feedback: After the first master is completed, we will send it to you for review. You can provide feedback and request any changes you deem necessary.

    7. Revisions: If changes are requested, we swiftly conduct these revisions and resend the project for another review.

    8. Final Delivery: Once you are satisfied with the master, we will deliver a ZIP file containing all mixed stems and The final mastered version of your song.

This process ensures a collaborative effort between us and our clients, aiming for the highest satisfaction and a final product that meets your expectations.

  • When preparing your tracks for submission, please ensure they are submitted as individual tracks, all compressed into a single zip folder. It's crucial that each track is clearly labeled and that all tracks start and end at the same point to ensure synchronisation. For optimal quality, we recommend submitting your tracks with a minimum of 24-bit resolution and a 44.1 kHz sample rate. This practice ensures that we can deliver the best possible outcome for your project.

    File Labelling Instructions

If you're content with the mix balance and gain staging of your tracks, you have the option to group similar elements together. This is particularly useful if you've opted for our 1-15 Stem Mix & Master package but have additional stems. Grouping similar elements together is a practical approach when you have multiple stems, here's how you should label them:

    • Combined Lead and Background Vocals: Vocals_All

    • Harmonies Grouped Together: Vocals_Harmonies

    • Guitars (Both Lead and Rhythm): Guitars_All

    • Synths and Keyboards: Synths_Keys_All

    • Drums and Percussion as One: Drums_Percussion_All

Including more stems offers us greater flexibility during the mixing and mastering stages. If you aim for a comprehensive refinement of your project and wish to include all elements individually, here's how you should label them:

    Vocals:

    • Lead Vocal: Vocals_Lead_1, Vocals_Lead_2

    • Background Vocals: Vocal_BGV_1, Vocal_BGV_2

    • Adlibs: Vocal_Adlib_1, Vocal_Adlib_2

  • Make sure no track peaks above -3dB. This headroom allows us to apply necessary processing and adjustments without compromising the quality of your music, ensuring a clean, dynamic final product

  • Yes, you can use a song as a reference. Providing a reference track helps us understand your desired sound and ensures the final output aligns with your vision. Please include the reference track with your submission.

  • While we typically prefer receiving dry multi-track files to maximise our flexibility in the mix. If you decide to include effects such as reverb or delay, we recommend submitting these on a separate stem. This approach allows for greater mixing flexibility. Please clearly label these separate effects stems using the format ‘effects_(effect type)_(track name)’. This ensures we can accurately interpret and integrate your creative intentions into the final mix, providing a balance between your unique sound and professional mixing standards.

  • You'll receive up to two free revisions for each service, allowing for any necessary tweaks or adjustments. Please note, a revision includes modifications or enhancements based on your feedback.
